Born in 1942 by Robert Kaufman, Robert Kaufman Fabrics began as a fixture in the New York garment business. With the creation of "Windjammer", a rayon fabric that became popular with department stores in 1955, Robert Kaufman began designing and selling velvets, seersuckers and plaids. 100% cotton prints were introduced into the company in the 1970's. Today, Kaufman has two different design studios with in-house and talented signature artists who supply innovative and exclusive collections.
